Our certified graders take special care with each diamond, colourless or fancy colour, from the smallest stone to the largest and most valuable.
Every stone is examined for the key characteristics that let us grade it as accurately as possible.
The 4Cs
Four characteristics set a diamond’s quality and value: carat, colour, clarity and cut.
- CaratHow much the stone weighs. One carat is 0.2 grams, or 100 points.
- ColourMost diamonds sit between colourless and a faint yellow. A perfect stone shows no colour at all.
- ClarityHow pure the stone is, judged by the traces its growth left behind.
- CutHow proportions, polish and symmetry bring out the stone’s beauty.
The R.D.I. International Diamond Report
Before a certificate leaves the lab, at least two graders have checked it.
